I purchased it off of Ebay, and with shipping it was about $25US. It is a tiny one made by Cirago (BTA-3210). I plugged it in and Kubuntu found it without problems; once my settup is working fine in Kubuntu, I will begin working on getting it to work with sidux. The wii and the dongle connected just fine. Some sites just say to press the 1 and 2 buttons. That did not work. I found the solution on the MythTV site; one must press the red button in the battery compartment to get the initial connection, then attempt the 1 and 2 button push. Anyhow, this is one step forward. More to come.

Nintendo did a very good job on its design and usability. The wiimote is nearly a computer in itself. Read more about the internals here. While chatting on irc with zulu9, I found out that these wiimotes can be used on a computer running GNU/Linux, as well as Windows and Mac’s. A great video demonstrating the abilities of the wiimote can be seen here. Extremely impressive. When I have a few spare moments I may pursue adopting the wiimote to work with sidux (and Debian in general). Zulu9’s post about using the wiimote is here on sidux forums.

[edit, added 4-16] I found some more stuff about the wiimote. This could be great for low income schools, and other projects. Look here.

It amazed me the speed of which kelmo took up python, and then changed the codebase completely over. The documents for this new tool have not yet been written. When they are finished, we’ll get them posted on s-u, asap.

We had a storm blow through Monday, 31 March 2008. I have posted some pics of the damage here

Devil informed me that he has finished writing an article to be published in the German magazine, Linux Life, due to be available in May. The article explains the sidux build process, and mentions the s-u.

I would like to thank all the devs of sidux, and give big thanks to kelmo for the build tool, and to Devil for the article.
